Today, at first light in the morning, a deliberate cut of fiber-optic cables has paralyzed AVE high-speed train services for several hours. The Fibersec range includes a series of products oriented to external plant fiber applications that allow operators and users to manage and supervise the state of fiber links, as well as detecting possible manipulations on it. The Fibernet Management System (FMS) is based on the FCAPS (Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance, and Security) network management model.
The system offers a comprehensive supervision of Fibernet communication equipment, centralizing event reception and allowing remote configuration. The system offers several ways to present the information. Besides the views of inventory, events, alarms and hyperlinks to make its use more convenient, it provides maps to represent related nodes jointly, endowed with dynamic “bottom-up” state propagation, offering a convenient hierarchical monitoring, essential when it comes to manage a complex network with several levels of grouping of hundreds and thousands nodes.
The use of Fibernet systems permit to detect in real time any fiber tampering or breaking, identifying the incident location for a fast restoration.
